Market days and Westwego city events
Westwego runs its market beside the highway and its bigger events out at the event center, and both need restrooms where a line will not block a walkway. A Westwego market order is deluxe units at the lot edge with a handwashing stand near the seafood stalls, delivered the evening before.
Collection is the tricky half. A Westwego lot fills with vendor trucks by daybreak, so we set the Westwego pickup window when the order is placed.
The event center, theater and Westwego halls
The Westwego event center takes everything from trade shows to graduations, and the theater and city halls fill the weekends between them. A Westwego indoor event usually needs units only for overflow, placed at the service side of the building away from the front doors. Outdoor Westwego events are different. A Westwego festival on grass gets units on mats at the edge of the paved apron, because that ground gives way once it rains.
Bayou Segnette, canals and Westwego ground
Westwego sits against Bayou Segnette with the parish canals and pumps behind it, and the lower Westwego streets hold water long after a storm has passed. We keep Westwego units on pavement wherever we can and plank the rest of them. The blocks nearest the Westwego canal are the slowest in the city to drain.
Boat and dock work is steady in Westwego. A Westwego bulkhead or dock job takes one unit on shell well back from the edge, and summer takes any Westwego crew job to twice weekly service. Shrimp season fills the Westwego docks and the market together, which is the busiest stretch of our year here.
