Levee and drainage work at Saint Rose
Saint Rose sits behind the river levee with the spillway upriver and the parish canals running back toward the interstate, so levee lifts, canal cleaning and pump work are regular parts of the Saint Rose route. A Saint Rose levee unit goes on the crown road and moves along the alignment as the crew works.
Access is by servitude gate. We note which Saint Rose gate the crew is using that week so the driver is not circling the levee looking for a way up.
Terminals, interstate and Saint Rose access
The Almedia Road corridor at Saint Rose is truck terminals and laydown yards, and the interstate ramps cut straight through it. A Saint Rose yard unit sits on slab inside the fence, clear of the trailer parking and out of the turning lane. Ramp work is different again. A Saint Rose highway crew takes the unit at the contractor staging lot, because a shoulder on that ramp is no place to leave anything.
River Road houses and the Saint Rose ground
The older Saint Rose blocks along River Road are small houses on soft ground, and the repair work there runs to roofs, piers and drainage. A Saint Rose home job takes one standard unit at the drive end on plank for a few weeks. Pier work under an older Saint Rose house runs longer than the owner expects, so we bill it monthly.
Ground everywhere in Saint Rose is silt over marsh fill. A unit left on bare soil drops a corner, so we plank the Saint Rose setting and re-level it at the first service call. Summer moves any Saint Rose crew job onto a twice weekly service schedule.
